Ok, ok, I am a late starter for 'consuming' Marian Keyes' creations. I pity myself for that.Well, anyway, this book is the second and half of Keyes' that I have read (I was just started reading 'Anybody Out There' and absentmindedly switched to this one). Being a sushi-eater, surely I was interested in the title.
The first book I read from Keyes was Last Chance Saloon, in Indonesian language. So, I was in shock to read the first Keyes' in English (I dare say it's Irish-English). I spent one week on reading this one and most of the time spent trying to find the meaning of, let say, telly (i assume it's television).
Despite of that little hiccup, the reference from Sunday Express (''Should come with a health warming. It's totally addictive... a real page-turner) was never more right. It is ADDICTIVE. The fact that I couldn't finish it in one day was a torture, I got up sneaking one or two pages, I read it when I was on a bus, even on a motorcycle.
It's a story of a simple girl, a success editor and a bored-housewife. The way their lives crossed each other and finding happiness in their own way. One is looking through the eagerness to know the future and covered herself with layers of protections kept in her bag. One is by achieving more and more, and ended up losing more and more. The other one is by stealing others' happiness. It's simple, honest and so very true.
Fun Facts:
- Keyes is regarded by her fans as a pioneer of the so-called 'Chick-Lit'
- She was an alcoholic
